Little Bee’s is for our younger children from 2-3 years old, its a spacious room and very cosy, the activities are planned around a Topic for the term and also incorporates children’s interests.
This room concentrates more on the nurture side of their development, building their confidence up, to be able to say goodbye on drop off with an easy transition.
The 2 year old children may not have been away from their parent/carers at any point in their little life, or they may just have been to their grandparents etc, so this is a massive transition for them.
If you take a moment and go right down to their level of vision, its a scary world and also one massive point, where’s my parents gone, who are these people and children around me.
A very emotional time for them, we work with all our parents to ease this transition at their pace. You yourselves will feel a little out of sorts worrying if they are ok, have I done the right thing, was it to early for them.
Please do not worry, we are here for your little one, but we are here for yourselves to. We always say their first week with us, only 1 hour is enough, you may think they are very confident, but when you walk away its a different matter. We always call you if they are crying and ask what you would like us to do, you may want to come and get them or leave them for a while. We always call you within their room so you can hear your little ones cry and we listen to what you want us to, as you are the experts regarding your child.
It may be heart breaking at first, but allow a little time and gradually increase their sessions, you will find a confident little child, enjoying playing and learning with their peers and building up a special bond with their grown up’s ( practitioners ).

They soon become a happy little bee
Like our big bee’s room we plan for their development and create an atmosphere around a topic and incorporate the children’s interests.
What are children’s interests?
This is where children lead the way to what they would like to have in and around the room, together with the topics set out for our focussed activities. Focussed activities are when the staff plan and set out specific materials to cover areas they have identified, which can be strengths in children’s development and also areas that may need support, the staff can sit with either children in a 1-1 or a group of children, assessing their progress and covering the topic that is planned for the term. We have at least 3 planned focussed activities that are implemented throughout the week, to ensure our full time children have something new to support their interest within the topic.
Our continuous provision is where we ensure all areas of children’s development are covered throughout the room on a daily basis for example building and role play.
Each of our room’s have a canopy outside area for them to free flow into the inside and outside of the classroom.
