At Barnabee’s we try to ensure your little ones have a all the experiences they need to understand the world around us and to provide the opportunities they may not have at home, due to busy work life and the cost of living in todays world.
With consent from yourselves we take the children on bus rides, walk to the shops, have money and a list to buy some items for nursery or a treat for themselves. Our staff help your little ones to pay for what they have chosen within the budget, explaining to them how much money they have.
We walk them to the post office to post a letter and send it to Barnabee’s, so the children can have the experience of opening the letter and what’s inside.
We also visit the chemist to show the children what they sell and explain the items that help us to stay healthy for example toothbrushes, tooth paste, soap, shampoo and the pharmacy which gives us medicine that we need to help us if were poorly.
We have taken our children to wait at the bus stop for the bus and get on safely, we travel on the bus to the station and have a look around at the small buses and the larger ones and the shops/cafe’s etc, we then get back onto the bus and back to preschool.
We walk them to the local park where they can have fun on all the playground equipment and have a run on the field.
We attend a social gathering in our attached church building/ community hall and sit with the people who are having a drink and a chat, this provides an experience of a café environment and also a chance to chat to the elderly, some of our children do not have grandparents and also the community users may not have grandchildren, so the experience is lovely for both.
Within all the above we chat about what they do at home sharing what each child experiences.
We have brought equipment from our raffles, this helps us to provide the money to buy items such as PE equipment. We have recently purchased footballs, dance equipment, bubble machines and many more items to implement physical activities and enjoyment for all our children.
We also have outside agencies that come into preschool, such as the Animal man, dancing clubs, PE instructors.
Our parents also come into preschool with their job roles/uniforms on and chat with the children about what they do and why eg Vets, police, nurse and farmers who bring lambs in for us to see.
